Monday - Friday - Independent Studying

The study of herbalism is an ongoing journey to help you get into the habit of studying daily. Each week your instructor will upload various articles and videos about the topic of the week for you to study.  

Saturdays - Live Session

Every Saturday from 10 AM - 2 PM you will meet with your instructors in your virtual classroom. During the live session, you and other participants will learn the materials of the week and participate in live demonstrations. 

Course Outline

Week 1

History and Evolution of Herbalism

History and evolution of herbal medicine: Explore the origins of herbal medicine, from ancient practices to modern-day applications. Principles of herbalism: Understand the core principles that guide the practice of herbalism, including the belief in the healing power of nature. Ethical herbal practices: Discuss the importance of ethical considerations in herbalism, such as sustainable sourcing of herbs and respectful cultural appropriation.
Week 2

Herbal Pharmacology

Plant Constituents and Their Effects: Learn how herbs interact with the human body, influencing physiological processes and restoring health. Examine the scientific evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of herbal remedies. Dosage and administration principles: Learn how to determine appropriate dosages of herbal remedies and understand different methods of administration. Drug interactions and adverse effects of herbs.
Week 3 -4

Herbal Safety

Principles of Herbal Safety Common toxic herbs and their interactions. Herbal contraindications and precautions. Safe dosage and administration of herbs
Week 5

Energetics

Introduction to herbal energetics. The four temperaments and herbal remedies. The five elements and herbal affinities. Using energetics to select herbs.
Week 6 - 8

Introduction to Human Anatomy & Physiology

Learn the basic functions, common disorders, and herbs that help support the function of each bodily system.
Week 9 - 10

Formulas and Preparation

Developing herbal formulas for specific conditions. Combining herbs for synergistic effects. Dosage considerations and administration guidelines. Hands-on herbal formula development workshop. Making herbal teas, infusions, and decoctions. Creating herbal tinctures, extracts, and salves. Preserving and storing herbal remedies. Hands-on herbal preparation workshop
Week 11

Final Project

Demonstrate your understanding of herbs, anatomy, and energetic principles to create a comprehensive herbal remedy with your final project.
Week 12

Presentation and Final Exam

Wrap up your herbal journey with a presentation of your final project and a final exam. Celebrate the completion of the Herbalist Program and the beginning of your empowered journey in the world of herbs and healing.
